6 Simple Ways To Avoid Having Bad Days

Lagosians will find this especially useful

Just this morning on my way to work, an SUV suddenly stopped, causing a back-to-back “chain” accident, involving four other cars in the process! What really struck me was the fact that each driver involved, had a different expression on his face: from the last to the first driver in the chain, was laughter, shock, “hands on her head”, confusion and despair respectively. It basically said that some of them were prepared and some others weren’t.

Did you know that you can prepare for emergencies or accidents? Instead of looking for road-side mechanics to quickly “patch” your car or self-medicate because hospitals are so expensive, there are ways to prevent bad things from ruining your day, your finances or even your health.

1. Protect Your Car

While it may come with a limit for the cover, getting comprehensive car insurance ensures that the damages to your car and damages caused by your car to others, are fixed by your provider. Trust me, the financial strain that accidents bring when unexpected can get out of hand.

2. Documents Are Important

Lately on the Lekki-Epe expressway, some FRSC officials have been apprehending defaulters every morning, I can only imagine how long it’ll take before those people can get back to their schedule for that day. Make sure your documents are complete and up to date, as a worthy road user and as a good citizen of Nigeria.

3. Protect Your Health

There’s no amount of money or time that will replace good health. If you live on the island in Lagos, you’ll know just how expensive healthcare is. Imagine if that accident was fatal? What would the headline read in the newspapers? Are your dependents taken care of?

4. Build Immunity

Apart from protecting yourself in case of emergencies, it is important to build immunity. I don’t think anyone wants to take meds all their lives, or for every little hiccup in your body, so eat well, sleep well and stay away from toxic substances.

5. Safety First!

Do you have a fire extinguisher in your kitchen and in your car? Do you use your seat belt? Do you watch the kind of buses you enter even when you’re in a hurry? All these precautions are not for kids alone, kids are not responsible for themselves, you are.

6. Save Money

Can you really plan for everything? We live in a world of unpredictability, no matter how we try. Disasters happen and the only difference is in how you can reduce its effect. One way to do this is to have some money saved up every month because you never know when it’ll come in handy.

Life is short, make living worth the while. When you take care of yourself, you improve the quality of your life so thar when bad things happen, you’ll only be full of smiles.
